Polyrhachis dives belong to the genus of weaver ants. They are known as ground weaver ants who tend to build their nests in the wild with leaf litter and twigs, they do well in a natural based set up for this with the use of aspen shavings or leaf litter and twigs or both.
In terms of weaving, they use their brood which produce silk naturally when they cocoon, they use this process to construct/weave their nests with the silk and other building materials like twigs.
The use of weaving makes them a highly desirable species for any collector in the addition to this they can spray formic acid to defend themselves and when they are hunting prey, they do this from their gasters and raising them into the air by curling their bodies.
They can grow fairly fast and require no hibernation and tend to have multiple queen colonies in the wild.

We have no control over the environment outside the test tube and have no influence in the conditions the responsibility once placed outside the test tube within the 14-day period the responsibility is with the buyer. 9 times out of 10 colonies die in the nest due to lack of water access, food, temperature, oxygen or stress due to vibrations or exposure to excess light. If your colony does fail inside a nest contact us, we can advise what went wrong but it is up to you to buy another ant colony, you will succeed but sometimes it does not work the first time.
